Armenia To Scrap 20% Car Tax After Eurasian Union Warning


iting trade rules set by the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), the Armenian government moved on Thursday to abolish a 20 percent tax levied from cars imported from Russia and other EEU member states.

The decision came two weeks after a senior official from the Russian-led bloc’s executive body, the Eurasian Economic Commission, publicly said that Armenia should have abolished value-added tax (VAT) for such cars when it formally joined the EEU in January 2015. Subsequent reports in the Armenian press said that Yerevan is reluctant to scrap the tax because that would lose it millions of dollars in annual state revenue.

Oil prices soar on hopes of Opec production cut


Oil prices surged as much as 12% on Friday after new suggestions that Opec nations were set to cut oil production.
The United Arab Emirates’ energy minister said that Opec members were ready to reduce output, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The Armenian government says it’s set to help Carrefour resolve a dispute that has delayed the French hypermarket giant’s entrance to the country, in a bid to prevent the country’s investment climate being harmed further by the affair, BNE (Business New Europe) writes referring to the opening of French Carrefour in Armenia.

Armenia to participate in BioFach organic exhibition in Germany

From February 13-16, seven Armenian food processing companies, led by the organic certification company EcoGlobe LLC, will participate in the world’s leading organic exhibition BioFach 2013 in Nuremberg, Germany.

The participation of these companies in the expo was made possible through the training and assistance of the USAID-funded Enterprise Development and Market Competitiveness (EDMC) project, which helped prepare and lead the companies closer to organic standards conformity and production certification.
